Stephen Lichty works in both performance and sculpture, sometimes mixing the two genres. His expanded sculptures and assemblages recall the work of the Minimalist sculptors of the 1960s and 1970s. He shares with them a respect for materials, an eye for detail, and the importance of the placement of objects; however, Lichty is also interested in the connotations that actions on materials and the configurations of objects may suggest.

Stephen Lichty (Kansas City, MO, 1983) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He holds a BSc from the Department of Culture and Communications at NYU.
