DAVID NOONAN

David Noonan’s artist book Pageant combines high quality reproductions of a number of his most iconic screen-prints, collages, and installations with enigmatic fiction by writer Dan Fox. Pageant distills Noonan’s most persistent concerns: performance, imagination, and memory, melding them in an engaging journey between truth and illusion. This handsome cloth-bound volume reveals the depth of Noonan's play with found images: he simultaneously taps the conscious and subconscious minds in his filmic layering of patterns, scenes, and characters. Fox's writing sharply underlines the fictive qualities of Noonan's work, capturing its moods as they swing from the contemplative to the rhapsodic.

DAVID NOONAN (Ballarat, Australia, 1969) lives and works in London. He holds a BFA from Ballarat University College and a MFA from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne. Selected exhibitions include: Gwangju Biennale (2008); Chisenhale Gallery, London (2008) (solo); Museum De Hallen, Haarlem, the Netherlands (2007). Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2007) (solo); Tate Modern, London (2006).

David Noonan has been featured in numerous journals and papers, including Art Asia Pacific, Art in America, Flash Art, Frieze, Tema Celeste, and Time Out New York. A Thames & Hudson monograph was published in 2005.
